We’re looking for copy editors with a passion for the English language to help us provide our audience with the best quality content. If you’re excited about taking the pulse of the Middle Kingdom, creating and maintaining standards of quality, and helping other improve themselves, then read on…
You are skilled at communicating across cultures. While your second language abilities may not be 100% fluent, you are still able to effectively communicate with others from different backgrounds.
You have an intense attention to detail. You like to dive deep into the weeds on any number of subjects and use that same approach when looking at others’ work
You love the English language. Some may have call you a stickler or, god forbid, a “grammar nazi’,” but you believe that the English language, with its nuanced vocabulary and structure, is perhaps the most beautiful form of expression…. if done properly.
You are always looking for ways to improve. Not only are you good at finding problems, but also at coming up with creative solutions. You prefer coaching over criticism and support over sophistry.
You are familiar with various styles of written content. Whether it’s AP, Chicago, MLA, or any other formal writing style, you understand that consistency across communication is important for both the audience and the brand.
What You’ll Do
We are a growing team so you’ll likely get involved in a little bit of everything, but here are some of the main things you’ll be doing:
- Helping our content team shape our stories through editing, shaping, and coaching
- Proactively communicating with reporters, writers, and editorial teams about content quality and deadlines
- Contributing to editorial discussions and direction
What You’ll Get
- An opportunity to expand your knowledge of the English language
- A friendly and fun-loving team
- A flexible working environment: work where and when you want
