In September, Tesla sold 56,006 Chinese-made vehicles, a 26.5% increase from August and the highest number since it began production in Shanghai in October 2019, figures released by the China Passenger Car Association showed on Tuesday. Domestic needs accounted for most of the September sales, while 3,853 cars were exported. To compare, Chinese EV maker BYD sold 70,432 vehicles in September, accounting for nearly 20% of the country’s new energy vehicle sales. [Reuters]
