He Xiaopeng, CEO of Chinese EV maker Xpeng, posted on social media on Wednesday that all Chinese automakers will face a production halt in May if the auto supply chain companies cannot find a workaround for the production disruption caused by covid lockdowns in Shanghai and nearby areas. He added that related government officials are addressing the issues and trying to resume production in the Yangtze delta region. Xpeng’s rival Nio halted production on April 9, while the lockdowns have also led to automakers such as Tesla and Volkswagen shuttering their Shanghai plants. [The Paper, in Chinese]

The feed has been updated to include all Chinese automakers in the predicted production halt.
