Xpeng Motors will no longer offer lifetime free charging across its charging infrastructure network for new buyers starting May 9. Free charging was originally part of the standard package of buying an Xpeng vehicle, but the EV maker began phasing out unlimited access to its charging network without fees last July when it announced that customers who bought cars from Aug. 1, 2021 would instead get 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh), or about 7,000 kilometers worth of range, of free charging every year. Early Xpeng owners will still get 3,000 kWh of free charging annually. [Xpeng release, in Chinese]
