Tesla’s gigafactory in Shanghai is expected to return to full production capacity in June, Chinese media outlet Yicai reported. The US carmaker began a two-shift working schedule last week after resuming production on April 19 when the company moved more than 8,000 employees to a “closed-loop” production site, where employees live and work in isolation. Reuters reported that Tesla aimed to increase its output at its Shanghai plant to 2,600 cars a day from May 16. The carmaker was forced to shut down the factory for 22 days from late March after Shanghai imposed a large-scale lockdown to rein in a citywide Covid-19 outbreak. [Yicai, in Chinese]
