Gotion High-Tech, a Chinese electric vehicle battery supplier backed by Volkswagen, reported RMB 8.6 billion ($1.24 billion) in revenue for the first half of this year on Aug. 26, a 143.2% increase from a year ago. Gotion recorded an impressive 358.3% yearly growth in its overseas business, accounting for less than 5% of its total revenue. Meanwhile, it saw a 132.5% growth in its domestic business, which accounted for 95%. In June, Gotion began building its first overseas battery plant in Gottingen, Germany. It planned to locate a third of its production capacity, expecting to be over 100-gigawatt hours (GWh), outside China by 2025. [Gotion release, in Chinese]
