Chinese phone vendor Vivo rolled out a major software update called Funtouch 13 to its phones overseas on Tuesday. Based on Android 13, the latest operating system offers new personalization options, security upgrades, and more convenient features for a better user experience. It inherits Android’s Material You UI system, picking colors from wallpapers and applying them to system UI and built-in apps. Funtouch 13 also introduces a more flexible privacy control for different apps, like iOS. Vivo also introduced some new features to its camera system, including a stabilization ring to help mitigate the effects of shaky hands, and more powerful video editing tools. Funtouch OS 13 will be available from Oct. 24, starting with its high-end model, the X80 Pro, and will land on more devices worldwide in the future. [Vivo, press release]
