Chinese short-video platform Kuaishou reopened its links to the top two Chinese e-commerce giants, Taobao and JD, on Oct. 28 after not directing buyers to these platforms to complete purchases for 8 months. The company explained that the news follows changes in its agreement with third-party e-commerce platforms in February. However, the offer comes with limitations. The Beijing-based company said that external links to Taobao can be placed on Kuaishou’s short-video and live streaming rooms by the year-end, and links to JD self-operated products will also be allowed to be marketed on Kuaishou before Nov. 30, adding that it is unclear whether there will be further cooperation beyond the time frame.
