Chinese fast fashion retailer Shein is testing a platform model in Brazil, allowing third-party merchants to open stores and sell through Shein app, Chinese media outlet LatePost reported on Wednesday. Merchants will manage their own operations and logistics, which is different from Shein’s previous business model of taking charge of all retail steps. The decision for the pilot project was made in 2021 and was officially launched this March, a person familiar with the matter told LatePost. The report also added that the platform’s average price per customer in Brazil is about $30 and takes about 3% of the market share in Brazil. [LatePost, in Chinese]
