Chinese telecom giant Huawei and smartphone maker Oppo reached a patent agreement on Friday. The global cross-licensing patent agreement allows both companies to use some of the other’s key patented technologies, including essential cellular standard patents, and 5G-related tech. Huawei has more than 110,000 patents worldwide as of 2021. In August, Oppo had to halt sales in Germany after losing a 5G patent lawsuit to Nokia. [Huawei, press release]
