The US government plans to add more than 30 Chinese firms to its Entity List, including top storage chipmaker YMTC, as early as this week, an unnamed source told Bloomberg on Wednesday. US suppliers must obtain a license in order to ship technology to any firm on the trade blacklist. In October, the US added 31 Chinese firms to an Unverified List, which provides them with a 60-day window to access US tech before strict penalties are introduced. The government also announced a series of sweeping chip curbs on China in October hitting top Chinese chipmakers hard. This week, China turned to the WTO over the dispute, though a swift resolution through the international body seems unlikely. [Bloomberg]
