Chinese search engine giant Baidu announced today that it will roll out a ChatGPT-like tool called ERNIE Bot, or Wenxin Yiyan, in March after completing internal testing. The news sent shares of Hong Kong-listed Baidu up more than 10%. The opening date for the test could be brought forward as Google and Microsoft pick up the pace in response to ChatGPT, Baidu said in the announcement. Google is set to introduce Bard, a conversational AI service, in a few weeks to compete with ChatGPT. Microsoft announced it will hold a “special press event” on Feb. 7, which is widely believed to involve the integration of OpenAI’s popular platform, ChatGPT, into Bing. [TechNode Reporting]
