Yesterday, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun posted a video on Weibo, China’s Twitter-like microblogging site, showing a Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 taking just five minutes to go from an empty battery to fully charged. The test was done using a 300W super-fast charger on the device’s 4100mAh battery. The charger’s peak power was measured as 290W; it maintained 280W of power for up to two minutes. However, the test used a modified charger and phone battery, meaning the technology currently remains out of reach for ordinary users, and Xiaomi has not revealed when or if it will be commercially available.
