On Thursday, Chinese video platform Bilibili announced a net revenue of RMB 6.1 billion ($890.6 million) in the fourth quarter of 2022. This represents a 6% increase over the same period in 2021 and is the lowest growth since the company’s listing in 2018. Despite this, the Shanghai-based company’s loss decreased by 29% to RMB 1.5 billion from the same quarter in 2021, but still resulting in a 10% wider loss of RMB 7.5 billion in 2022 compared to the prior year. Bilibili shifted its focus from monthly active users (MAUs) to daily active users (DAUs) and achieved a 29% year-on-year growth in DAUs to 92.8 million. However, the DAU growth rate dropped from 8.1% to 2.8% in the September quarter, with 7 million fewer monthly active users during that period. Among Bilibili’s revenue sources, value-added services stood out with a revenue growth of 24% to RMB 2.3 billion, a growth rate that outpaced advertising revenue growth by nearly four times. In addition, the Nasdaq and Hong Kong dual-listed company recorded a 1% decrease in mobile games revenue in 2022. [Bilibili]
