Xpeng Motors has merged its direct and channel sales teams, which until recently had always operated as two separate units, in a move that aims to provide more centralized control over pricing and create more effective sales processes, Chinese media outlet Jiemian reported on Wednesday. Sources said the two teams used to step on each other’s toes, leading to a poor customer experience, and that the new united operation, led by newly-appointed president Wang Fengying, will reduce the likelihood of the two sides going after the same leads. The Chinese electric vehicle maker operated a network of more than 400 shops as of the third quarter of last year, of which 70% were directly run by the company, with the rest by franchised dealers.
