Huawei will roll out the latest version of its HarmonyOS, an alternative to Google’s Android operating system, to the full lineup of Aito’s electric vehicles, in a move aimed at shoring up its car business. Richard Yu, chief executive of Huawei’s consumer business group, announced this at a news conference in Shanghai but did not give a timeframe. The operating system allows users to instantly sync applications from Huawei smartphones to car dashboards. Additionally, the company will release a new version of Aito M5 crossovers equipped with Huawei’s autonomous driving technology next month, according to Yu. Co-launched by Huawei and its manufacturing partner Seres in late 2021, Aito delivered less than 8,000 units during the first two months of this year. [Jiemian, in Chinese]
