Luckin Coffee lost a lawsuit alleging trademark infringement in Thailand on Dec. 1, according to multiple Thai media reports, after the Chinese coffee chain sued local company 50R Group over its registration of Luckin’s trademark in the southeast Asia country and opened a number of stores over the past two years. Luckin Coffee issued a statement a year ago emphasizing it has not yet entered the Thai market, adding that counterfeit stores have caused “serious damage” to its brand. Singapore is Luckin’s first destination outside of China, with the company running 18 offline outlets since opening its first store there this March. Luckin’s logo features a deer looking to the right with a blue background color; in the Thai version produced by 50R, the only difference is that the deer gazes to the left.
