ByteDance on Wednesday denied market speculation that it plans to produce vehicles in partnership with automakers. “The company has no plans to manufacture vehicles,” a ByteDance spokesperson told multiple media outlets. This follows a similar clarification in July 2025, when the company dismissed reports that its Volcano Engine division was preparing the Doubao Car. While ByteDance is not entering the car-making business, it has invested in automotive intelligence, working with companies including Mercedes-Benz and Seres on smart cockpit systems, AI algorithm training platforms, and other related technologies. Last year, the company has also launched smart hardware products, such as the Doubao Phone. [TechNode Reporting]
