Ant International and Google are working together on a new open standard aimed at enabling artificial intelligence-driven commerce, according to a reporter from China Star Market. The two companies are jointly promoting the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), an emerging framework designed to support so-called Agentic Commerce, in which AI agents can autonomously assist users throughout the shopping process. Under the collaboration, the protocol is expected to allow AI systems to handle the full commercial workflow, including product browsing, purchasing and after-sales services, with the goal of building a broader ecosystem for AI-powered commerce.
