Chinese AI chipmaker Cambricon has emerged as the most valuable AI company in China, according to a new ranking released by the Hurun Research Institute, with its valuation surging to 630 billion yuan ($88 billion). Hurun’s 2025 China Top 50 Artificial Intelligence Enterprises list ranks companies whose core businesses focus on AI computing power or algorithms, based on their enterprise value. Cambricon’s valuation rose 165% from a year earlier, reflecting strong investor optimism around domestic AI chip development.
Moore Threads, often described as China’s first domestically listed GPU company, ranked second with a valuation of 310 billion yuan ($43 billion), while MetaX placed third at 250 billion yuan ($35 billion). MetaX is among the first Chinese companies to achieve end-to-end domestic production of high-end GPUs. The ranking underscores China’s push to build a self-reliant AI hardware and software ecosystem amid tightening US export controls on advanced semiconductors. [TechNode Reporting]
