Apple supplier BOE has run into fresh manufacturing problems in producing OLED displays for iPhones, prompting Apple to shift orders for millions of panels to Samsung Display, according to South Korean media outlet The Elec. The sources said BOE has yet to resolve production issues that emerged in November and December last year, after irregularities were found in a key manufacturing process. As a result, production of OLED panels for the iPhone 15, 16 and 17 models has been suspended, the sources added. BOE is now focusing on stabilising supplies for the iPhone 17e, expected to launch in the spring, and remains the largest panel supplier for that model. [IThome, in Chinese]
