Job Responsibilities

  1. Report on major developments, strategic shifts, and product launches of China’s leading technology and internet companies (e.g. Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, Meituan, Baidu).
  2. Cover earnings reports, regulatory changes, business model innovations, and competitive dynamics shaping China’s digital economy.
  3. Track how China’s tech giants are expanding overseas and adapting to global markets, and explain their global impact to international readers.
  4. Monitor key developments in adjacent sectors — such as e-commerce, cloud services, digital finance, and AI — and analyze how they intersect with the strategies of major internet players.
  5. Produce timely daily news coverage as well as brief analytical pieces, and contribute to planned editorial projects and thematic stories throughout the year.
  6. Draw on both Chinese- and English-language sources to provide accurate, well-rounded reporting with unique insights.
  7. Participate in editorial planning and support coverage of major industry events, product launches, and forums.

Job Requirements

  1. At least 2 years of experience in technology, business, or financial journalism; experience covering China’s internet sector is a strong plus.
  2. Strong English writing and research skills, able to clearly communicate complex business and policy developments to a global audience.
  3. Comfortable working with both Chinese- and English-language materials, including corporate announcements, regulatory documents, and financial disclosures.
  4. Deep interest in China’s technology ecosystem and sensitivity to how innovation, policy, and market forces interact in shaping industry trends.
  5. Awareness of global tech trends and the ability to connect China’s developments with broader global contexts is preferred.
  6. Strong time management skills and attention to detail, capable of producing accurate work under tight deadlines.
