Sina is speeding up to monetize its weibo platform. The owner of weibo account called Weibi (meaning MicroCoin) reported today that his account has been taken back by Sina without any notice in advance. From other resource, we’ve also heard that Sina weibo might launch its own virtual currency in May. Currently there are 36,000 weibo applications submitted to weibo on since Sina opens its weibo API, and 1,600 of them have been approved. For the revenue sharing, Sina will take 30% and the rest all goes to the developer. So there is definitely the need.
