UCWeb, the Shenzen-based mobile software vendor announced today suing Tencent for unfair competition in the wake of the latter’s report claiming “Tencent Mobile Browser Eclipsed Its Competitors to Became No.1”. UCWeb has issued an open letter to its partners and users refuting Tencent’s report couple weeks ago.

Yu Yongfu, UCWeb CEO said that Tencent milked its monopoly position to menace partners and distort report.

The two companies both claimed to be the largest Chinese mobile browser vendor, by different metrics. UCWeb said that its browser’s monthly active users has recorded 167 million, which means UCWeb took over 77.67% of Chinese mobile browser market given China’s mobile browser users of 215 million.

Shenzhen-based Tencent hasn’t responded to the matter yet.
