Back in January I wrote about a new Hong Kong based start-up called 8 Securities that is set to revolutionize online securities trading. Now after much anticipation, the Trading Portal is about to go live.
The key differentiator of 8 Securities compared to other online trading platforms is its customizable platform that can integrate apps, as well as its social network functionality.
When trading, staying on top of key relevant information in a timely fashion is paramount. So in an easy to see and manage way, 8 Securities connects traders with a full view of fundamental, technical and social media data, along with their actual positions, trades and performance.
The social aspect empowers traders to exchange ideas and track trends with a community of smart investors, while choosing to retrieve real time data, news, and research on different markets through a single view. Like-minded investors can exchange ideas and learn with a single click. They can also build private online investing circles with family and trusted friends.
Mathias Helleu, co-founder of 8 Securities, said, “This is the first real innovation in online trading for more than a decade. The introduction of a new investment tool that we call “Social Analysis” is a milestone in the development of online trading. The platform is being initially launched in Hong Kong for trading in Hong Kong and US markets, but has been developed to become a truly global platform over time. We look forward to bringing investors a simple, personalized, transparent and socially connected online trading experience.”
In recognition of their innovative and disruptive trading platform, they have earned some great accolades. 8 Securities was selected as one of the top 5 start-ups from a field of 15 finalists and some 400 initial entrants at Startup Battlefield, the premiere international startup competition held by TechCrunch in Beijing early November. 8 Securities was the only finance industry finalist for the Battlefield.
“We set out to revolutionize the online trading experience, and to have our hard work recognized by these innovative groups is really gratifying,” said Helleu. “Simplicity, customization, and transparency are the features that online investors always look for. With the integration of the social network function into our trading platform, we believe 8 Securities is exactly what today’s investors are looking for.”
8 Securities has also been well received at home in Hong Kong. In the, Battle of the Apps II held in Hong Kong in mid-December, 8 Securities’ Trading Portal was voted the “Top App” among the 12 finalists, by industry practitioners, including active app publishers and developers in town.
“We are proud that Hong Kong is our base, a city with such a high proportion of traders who trade online. In order to celebrate our Hong Kong roots we have worked with local film maker, Asa Li, to compile a video tribute to Hong Kong which can be viewed through the following link,” Helleu concluded.
