NetEase, the Nasdaq-listed Chinese gaming vendor slash portal site yesterday held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders at which it received shareholder approval to change its corporate name from “NetEase.com, Inc.” to a shorter “NetEase, Inc.” to address the shift in its diversified businesses.

As the China southern Guangzhou-headquartered company increasingly diversifies its business scope ranging from entertainment, community, news, e-commerce to online gaming and so forth, it’s management and board members believed a new corporate name would more accurately reflect the change.
