Three trends ride a new wave in China’s booming mobile app sector this June, according to the very first China App Index released by Wandoujia, one of China’s leading Android app stores. Photo-sharing apps based on WeChat, money-saving and mobile MMOs apps are the top three categories.

Baidu PhotoWonder and Crazy Guess Figure are two winners in the photo-sharing bandwagon. The monthly downloads of these two games amounted to 1.60 million and 2 million, respectively.

Baidu PhotoWonder enables customers to compare their portraits with that of a celebrity. Crazy Guess Figure users enjoy fun in guessing the Chinese characters based on a given picture. The results of both games can be shared to friends via WeChat which fueled their growth.

Money-saving apps are among the favorites of the price-sensitive Chinese customers. These apps cover a wide range of services including, cheaper calls, free Wi-Fi and group-purchasing deals. Discount 800 and AliCall, a service for making cheap calls, take the laureate as money savers.

Sefirah, a Korean MMO game, wins the standing ovation from Chinese mobile game players with high profit potential thanks to its promising in-app purchase prospects.
