Online video provider PPTV launched another piece of hardware, PPLink, which is much smaller than the set-top box the company released three months ago.

The dongle must remind you of Chromecast, the Android TV dongle Google rolled out not long ago. Like Chromecast, PPLink, when being plugged into HDMI cable on the back of a TV set, supports streaming content from mobile devices onto the TV screen. A mobile device can be used as remote control. PPLink also supports Airplay.

It’s priced at 199 yuan, lower than that for a Chromecast but not cheap at all to average Chinese users. If you input the search query, TV dongle, on Taobao, you’ll get a couple of hundred results that are sold for less than PPLink. The cheapest one is priced at 19 yuan.
