WeChat is testing a new version, 5.0.3, that supports recharging your mobile phone directly. The feature is included in and powered by the My Bank Cards where users’ bank accounts can be bundled for payments within WeChat.
Is it the start of direct competition with Alipay with which many Chinese users recharge their mobile phones. Alipay also launched a new version today that includes an official account platform like WeChat’s. McCafe, a brand under McDonald’s, is offering the same thing its parent company offers on WeChat.
Other new features include,
- Google accounts have been integrated. If a contact of your Google account contacts uses WeChat, he or she would be recommended for you to add.
- Messages can be saved and sent as emails.
- The saved content can be edited or sent to contacts.
The new version is optimized for iOS 7.
