Smart Wi-Fi router HiWiFi released Hi 2, the second generation of its flagship product Hi1, after securing tens of millions of dollars in Series A financing this September. The new gadget is priced at 169 yuan ($27.53), lower than 199 yuan for Hi 1.

Hi2 supports 2.4G/5GHz dual-band and 802.11ac wireless protocol, increasing the wireless transmission speed by 300%. It has 128M memory and 16M flash memory, and features high-speed SD card and USB.

Additionally, the company released a 99 yuan Hi 1S, the upgraded version for the first generation without support for 802.11ac, and a 69 yuan accessory which can increase the Wi-Fi coverage by more than 50%.

Adopting a marketing strategy similar to Xiaomi’s, HiWiFi disclosed that they have sold out 200,000 sets of Hi 1, attracting more than 300,000 fans to date.

Router is considered as the gateway for companies to take control of Internet access and have impact on content consumptions. Several Internet giants have released products to snap up the router market.
