Urska Srsen is the first female entrepreneur that stepped on the stage of 2014 TechCrunch Beijing today. She presented her product and explained the loving and caring emotions lay behind it.
Essentially, Bellabeat is a product that helps expecting mothers to listen to their babies’ heartbeat, and to share that exciting sound with their loved ones. Urska said that this idea originally derived out of her mother’s caring for healthcare and her partner’s expertise in this field.
Dropped out of Med School, Urska decided to pursue an artistic career before founding Bellabeat. She stated that this artistic background had helped her as a founder of her company. “My work as an artist is very similar to my work as a founder,” she says, because they all required creativity and imaginations. For Urska, and perhaps for all the founders out there, getting a startup to work is not easy. Urska believes that constant imagination and innovation is essential in making sure that your customers are satisfied with your product.
Looking at the business world from a rather unusual side, Urska expressed that “the core of everything is emotion.” “My work as a founder evolves around my customers’ emotions,” and perhaps it is for that reason Urska was able to build a product that is designed for sharing your babies’ sound between you and your loved ones. “A bonding experience” is what Urska believes that is unique about Bellabeat, so it goes beyond its physical and medical benefits to a physiological level.
