网易云音乐与NBC环球娱乐日本有限公司达成版权合作 – Sina Tech
What happened: NetEase Cloud Music has announced a copyright licensing partnership with NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan. Under the agreement, NetEase Cloud Music has been granted the license to Tokyo-based firm’s Japanese music catalog, including a large collection of anime music as well as albums and tracks from popular Japanese artists. The NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan’s music library is now available on NetEase Cloud Music.
Why it’s important: Japanese music, especially the anime genre, is increasingly popular among Chinese music fans. Joining forces with NBCUniversal Entertainment gives NetEase Cloud Music access to a vast catalog of Japanese artists and songs and a boost in its push to expand domestic and overseas markets. This is not the first time NetEase forms licensing partnership with a Japanese entertainment enterprise. In August, the Chinese online music platform signed a partnership with an established Japanese label KING RECORDS. In the year prior, NetEase Cloud Music formed a strategic partnership with Avex, the largest entertainment group in Japan, which made it one of the first to launch a massive roll-out of copyrighted Japanese songs in China.
