In a Monday statement, Chinese EV maker Nio said the company “has not deleted or changed any data” related to a Nio car involved in a recent fatal car crash. Nio’s statement came in response to claims from the lawyer of family of the deceased driver that Nio technicians operated on the crashed car without police authorization. On Aug. 12, 31-year-old Lin Wenqin died in a car crash while driving a Nio ES8 with its driver-assistance functions activated. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
