Tech giant Tencent has hit short video app Douyin with a claim for RMB 800 million ($126 million) over an alleged copyright infringement involving its hit animation series “Soul Land”, according to a lawsuit filed with an intermediate court in Chongqing. The amount multiplies an earlier RMB 61.6 million claim when the company first filed the lawsuit in June. Tencent has sued Douyin for more than RMB 2.9 billion in the past six months as the rivalry between long-form and short-form video platforms intensifies. [Jiemian, in Chinese]
