Didi has decided to end its ride-hailing operations in Russia and Kazakhstan, Russian news agency Tass reported Monday, saying the company’s mobility services are expected to be halted from Mar. 4. A company spokeswoman said Didi will withdraw its business from the region due to “market changes and other challenges,” while reaffirming efforts to focus on business development in Latin American states and certain markets of the Asia-Pacific Region, the Middle East and Africa. The Chinese ride-hailing giant entered Russia in August 2020 as part of its ambitious goal to achieve 100 million daily trips globally in three years. [Tass]
