Chinese state-owned media company Mango TV is set to launch its own NFT platform in mid-March which is built on the company’s own blockchain, Guangmang Chain, 36Kr reported Monday. This will make it the first state-owned company with its own platform for NFTs, or digital collectibles as they are known in China. While NFTs are incredibly popular internationally, regulations prohibit trading between customers in China. Mango TV’s digital collectibles will reportedly be based on the company’s existing IP holdings, although the company will remain open to working with new IP partners. Speaking to 36Kr, a representative from Mango TV stated that the launch of the platform is a step forward in exploring the implementation of its own metaverse. [36Kr, in Chinese]
