Autonomous vehicle startup WeRide recently closed a $400 million funding round from a diverse group of investors including state-owned automaker GAC and German auto parts supplier Bosch, Chinese media outlet LatePost reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter. China-Arab Investment Funds and US private equity firm Carlyle Group also participated in the round, which valued the five-year-old unicorn at $4.4 billion and made the total amount of funding it has raised to more than $1.2 billion, the report said. WeRide’s Chinese rival Pony.ai said earlier this month that it had raised an undisclosed amount of funding with a valuation of $8.5 billion. [LatePost, in Chinese]
