Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio on Monday released a 220-volt bidirectional home charger, which can both pull power from the grid to charge vehicle batteries and return power to its sources. The new device is part of a line of home-energy systems released by the EV brand and can also serve as an energy storage unit. Priced at RMB 3,880 ($582), the charger is compatible with all of Nio’s vehicle models. The company will launch the product in July, but it will initially be rental-only due to limited production capacity, according to Nio vice president Shen Fei. [AI Caijing, in Chinese]
