China’s smartphone shipments in May dropped by 9.4% compared to the same period last year, according to a Monday report from The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). However, the 20.8 million units shipped represented an increase of 15.6% compared to the 18 million units shipped in April. Shipments of 5G phones hit 17.7 million, accounting for 85.3% of the total in May, an increase of 6% year-on-year.
