Xingji Technology, a mobile device company established by Geely chairman, Li Shufu, will go up against international makers in China’s premium smartphone segment, vice chairman Shen Ziyu said on Monday at a press conference in Hangzhou. The company operates a team of more than 1,000 technical staff and will “learn from Apple’s CarPlay system” to enhance vehicle information and entertainment systems with more advanced features via smartphones, Shen added. The company also announced on Monday that it has closed on its purchase of a 79.09% share in Chinese smartphone maker Meizu, with the latter retaining its independence.
