Qualcomm launched its new generation of smartwatch processors, the Snapdragon W5 and W5+, on Wednesday, and revealed that Oppo and Mobvoi will be the first companies to release smartwatches using the chips. Based on 4nm processor tech, the new chips use 50% less power with double the performance, while they are 30% smaller compared to the last generation. Smartwatches using Qualcomm’s new processors will enjoy better battery life and performance, which will put more pressure on Apple and its lowly one-day battery life. [Qualcomm, press release]
