Leading Chinese phone vendor Xiaomi revealed a prototype of its 12S Ultra phone on Wednesday, which supports to mount DSLR-grade Leica lenses on Wednesday. Appearance-wise, the phone resembles the 12S Ultra currently available on market but has two 1-inch complementary metal–oxide–semiconductors (CMOS), one of which is naked for external lenses. The prototype also supports some professional features such as peak contrast focus and histograms. The phone can shoot RAW format photos in 10-bits. Xiaomi has not said when, if ever, the model will be publicly released. The company launched the 12S series in China in July with built-in Leica-branded cameras. [ITHome, in Chinese]
