BYD said on Thursday that it sold 217,816 electric vehicles in China in October, jumping by over 169% year-on-year, and representing an increase of 16,557 units from a month earlier. Vehicle deliveries totaled nearly 1.4 million units from January to October for the firm, which almost doubled last year’s total of 730,093 units. The automaker has outperformed the market amid Covid-19 disruption this year, thanks to its in-house development and supply of key components. China’s electric passenger car sales are expected to have grown 87% year-on-year to around 680,000 units in October, according to preliminary estimates by the China Passenger Car Association.
