Chinese smartphone maker Vivo will launch its sister brand iQOO in the Malaysian market this month, according to Chinese media outlet ITHome. The brand will introduce at least one high-end phone in Malaysia and has already set up social accounts for the Malaysia and Indonesia regions on Instagram, saying “The wait is over, Monster is coming” in the profile. iQOO has yet to respond to TechNode’s request for comment. First revealed in 2019 as a brand focusing on gaming devices, iQOO entered the Indian market in 2020, according to local media outlet The Economic Times. In October, Apple and Samsung dominated the Malaysian smartphone market, accounting for 45.51%; Vivo’s comprised 10.91%, according to StatCounter, an Irish data firm. [ITHome, in Chinese]
