At an Aug. 20 launch event, Huawei unveiled the Pura X View, a conventional smartphone with a wider 16:9.5 display instead of the tall screen format used by most slab phones. The device has a 6.39-inch OLED display with 2,232-by-1,320 resolution and a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio, with four 1.05-millimeter bezels.

The phone is 6.68 millimeters thick, weighs 201 grams and packs a 7,000mAh battery. Huawei opened reservations on Aug. 20, with in-store experiences scheduled to begin on Aug. 28. The design brings the wider viewing format associated with Huawei’s Pura X foldable line to a non-folding device. [TechNode reporting]
