LUCY, the first “hyper-real” virtual pop idol created by Tencent Music, officially debuted on Dec. 12, with her first single now live on three major streaming platforms under the New York-listed firm: QQ Music, KuGou Music and Kuwo Music. A hashtag related to the virtual idol on the Twitter-like microblogging site Weibo amassed nearly 16 million views within hours of her unveiling. LUCY’s official Weibo account also shows that she has received support and partnership interest from nearly 20 top media outlets and brands including ELLE and Billboard within the first 24 hours.
