ByteDance-owned short video platform Douyin has appointed 32-year-old Han Shangyou as its business leader, making him the youngest executive at the app. Local media outlet Yicai reported that Han will look after the TikTok sister app’s livestreaming and life services businesses, with managers responsible for user growth and content and product now reporting to Han. Han will continue to report directly to Douyin chief executive Kelly Zhang. Born in 1990, Han joined ByteDance in 2016 and oversaw the small video business Volcano, before working on Douyin. Prior to assuming his latest role, he was head of the company’s life services unit. [Yicai, in Chinese]
