Chinese video platform Bilibili has started a new round of layoffs involving the firm’s operations, gaming, and streaming units, with 30% of staff in these teams being sacked, according to a report by local media outlet Jiemian. A spokesperson from the company told Jiemian that this round of redundancies was due to business adjustments, clarifying that they have no plan for large-scale cuts. Bilibili is offering laid-off employees an “N(working years)+2” compensation package. The report said some employees have already completed the procedures for leaving the company while a few are negotiating their terms, dissatisfied with the layoffs being announced at the end of the year, which prevents them from receiving a year-end bonus that would normally be equivalent to three months’ salary.
