Alibaba chairman and CEO Daniel Zhang is set to serve as president of Alibaba Cloud, replacing the unit’s former head Zhang Jianfeng, according to an internal email seen by Caixin. Daniel Zhang will take charge of the cloud computing unit as well as the workplace platform DingTalk. The e-commerce giant also replaced heads for the Chief People Officer (CPO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) positions. Wu Zeming, former CTO of the firm’s local life business, will replace Cheng Li to become Alibaba’s new CTO and vice president of DAMO Academy, making him the first Alibaba CTO born after the 1980s.
