Nio president Qin Lihong said on Saturday that the company will roll out a beta test for its first smartphone to a selected group of car owners in the second quarter of 2023 and likely launch the phone in the third quarter. Speaking at a Nio marketing event in Beijing, Qin added that the company’s handset will be integrated with Nio’s in-car system, providing its car owners with a seamless user experience. The Chinese electric vehicle maker plans to adopt a similar strategy to Apple, releasing one smartphone a year, chief executive William Li told reporters last July.
